Dragon Mania Legends (DML) Wiki:Code of Conduct

The Dragon Mania Legends (DML) Wiki is a user-written guide to provide a reliable information source about the Dragon Mania Legends game. When contributors follow a set formula for editing, users may browse and locate information in a consistent format. The following policies describe the required code of conduct, as well as the accepted standards for editing to keep articles uniform and reliable. As this guide is a constant work in progress, policies are subject to change.

 

Note: The wiki staff gets data direct from the game maker, Gameloft.

Code of Conduct

 

NEVER add game content not yet released by Gameloft. Doing so without permission from Gameloft may result in a ban from wiki editing, or if repeated, a ban from accessing the wiki. Information released by Gameloft can generally be posted in the form it was released (e.g., if text about something was released by Gameloft, that text can be added; if an image was released by Gameloft, a corresponding image can be added). The wiki Staff may have a bit of added discretion in posting very minor things, when in doubt, please ask a Staff member before posting.

General – The general Code of Conduct is a common-sense outline of accepted social behavior. All users of the Dragon Mania Legends Wiki must be 16 years of age or older to participate on the wiki. If you are not, please refrain from creating an account, joining, or editing.

• This site is used by youth and adults alike, be respectful and protect yourself and your personal information.
• Profanity, violence, sexual content, and soliciting are prohibited.
• Please refrain from using overly long/repetitive comments, usernames, or signatures.
• Please refrain from excessive use of emojis or symbols, or all capitals.
• Signatures should not be larger than normal text, irritating (over-bright colors, excessive spacing/symbols, blinking/animated etc.), affecting text spacing around it, or difficult to read.
• Please do not create pages with incorrect information such as guessed names, titles, or content (this includes Dragons, their names, information, or stats) as this is considered vandalism. Please consider using talk (Actions > Discussion) pages to ask about such information instead.

Comments/Discussion pages/Talk pages

• All non-user, non-talk page posts should be related to the game or wiki operations, and ideally should not reproduce content (unless it's for wiki maintenance/testing purposes).
• Clan invitations are restricted to the Wiki Friends Page.
• Friend requests and recruitment codes are restricted to the Wiki Friend Page.
• Be civil – Even if someone is rude or irrational, it does not help the situation to respond with negative remarks. For unresolved issues, contact a Staff for assistance.

User Page and User Talk Pages

• User and User talk pages (or any page) should not be used to share personally identifiable information. Personal game-related information is fine, such as: Clan, Recruitment Code, game progress, username (if non-real/not personally identifiable), and so on. However, users may contact bureaucrats for permission to post non-in-game content. This request must be accompanied by a clear, valid, and concise reason (do not enclose such information, nor any personal/private information, in the contact message).

Usernames and Accounts

Usernames – Usernames must be unique and not created in a manner such that it would appear rude, obscene, annoying (repetitive, all caps, etc.) or disruptive. Usernames should also not attempt to impersonate another person, business, wiki moderator or administrative role, game maker role, or staff member. Furthermore, any attempt to bypass any rule using leet speak, or other methods are not tolerated and result in a permanent ban. Excessively long or repetitive usernames, or usernames in all-caps, also are not permitted. Any account in violation of this policy is subject to a permanent ban.

If concerned that your username is in violation, or you feel it is necessary to change it, do not create a new account; instead, contact a member of the staff to request your username be renamed.

Accounts – Each individual may create one account. The creation of multiple accounts is prohibited; any attempt to create additional accounts to evade bans, whether temporary or permanent, result in the additional accounts being blocked indefinitely, and could result in the permanent block of the main account as well. Exceptions may be given if the user desiring to create more than one account provides a valid reason to wiki staff. If account rename is desired, you are unable to access the account for various reason, then do not create a new account. Instead, contact wiki staff through mail.

Content

All content posted must relate to the Dragon Mania Legends game. All contributions must be factual and follow the Manual of Style and Editing Central guidelines. If a topic is not covered in the manual, post on the Wiki Support page to have questions answered. Creation of pages not related to the game requires permission from a Bureaucrat who will create such page. This request must be accompanied by a valid reason.

In case it isn't clear, please do not create pages with incorrect information such as guessed names, titles, or content (this includes Dragons, their names, information, or stats) as this is considered vandalism. Please consider using talk (Actions > Discussion) pages to ask about such information instead.

Unreleased Content

We have an agreement with Gameloft regarding unreleased content, which allows us to get information and original image renders so that we can provide timely and accurate information. By data mining or posting unreleased information on this site, you risk an indefinite ban.

Creating Pages

User Page and User Talk Page – These pages may be edited to a members' liking provided they do not violate these or other policies. Talk pages also function as archives, thus removing or modifying messages is generally prohibited. Exceptions may apply to individual cases, contact staff.

All other pages – When creating a new page, make use of the pre-defined models or a similar page format that already exists. If an article model is not listed, and you're unsure how to proceed, discuss with an experienced user or staff member for advice.

Images

 

Do not upload non-wiki images – i.e., do not upload images for personal use, only images documenting game features are permitted. No image may contain (real) Clan or Player names, or any other personal identifiable information.

DML Wiki Images – DML Wiki Images are images used on the DML Wiki in articles about the DML game. Proper images, image naming, and cropping are typically defined either on the image upload page or the Manual of Style. These images can be uploaded directly to the DML Wiki by clicking the Upload file or Multi-Upload" links in the menu on the left of any page, or by using these links:

Editing/Deleting

Be careful when editing. Pages that need editing and the type of editing needed are explained in the Editing Central article. All edits should be concise and factual. If you see something inappropriate, though, report it immediately. If you upload something accidentally, contact a staff member to have it deleted. Additionally, placing the {{delete}} template on a page and stating the reason will tag the page as a candidate for deletion, without having to contact a staff member.

Collaborating

Wikis are intended to be collaborative editing environments, a spirit that needs to be upheld by all. As such, all contributions may be edited mercilessly but with good intention, that doesn't mean a contribution isn't appreciated, it means the information is useful but can be taken further, adjusted, or in some cases, reverted. As stated on mediawiki.org, if you do not want your writing to be reverted, or edited mercilessly or redistributed at will, then please do not submit it here.

If you intend to become an editor or regular contributor to the wiki, please review the Manual of Style.

Edit Warring

An edit war occurs when editors, who disagree about the content of a page, repeatedly override each other's contributions. Editors engaged in such changes should make best efforts to reach consensus before making such edits, by discussing on the article's discussion/talk page. A talk page is created by visiting the related page, then pressing the Actions > Discussion button, and creating the page (if not existing), or adding a new comment section (if existing). Users engaging in edit wars, particularly with Wiki Staff, risk being blocked, regardless of whether those edits are justifiable. Please engage in dialogue in the appropriate place, to reach consensus. Staff will also make reasonable efforts to inform users of wiki conduct policies.

Since this wiki is small, and must be curated in a specific way, it does not follow Wikipedia's Three Revert Rule (3RR) or other rules. Instead, editors should check with staff if they are unsure if an edit, change, or reversal (particularly to game maker supplied data and data tables), is justified. It is fine for an editor to add information, fix missed or outdated information, or rectify well-known mistakes by any wiki editor (including staff); however, if not 100% certain, reverting or overriding staff edits should only be done for legitimate reasons, after discussion as outlined above. The staff very much appreciates good edits, additions, and fixes, and are happy to provide guidance or adjustments as needed. Please keep in mind, staff has the final say in operations, since things are often uploaded/named/categorized/formatted in particular ways. Typically, this is to correctly autopopulate templates, lists, tables, categories etc., or to stay consistent with game data, and avoid unnecessary maintenance burden.

Exemptions

The following reverts are exempt from the edit-warring policy:

• Reverting your actions ("self-reverting").
• Reverting edits to pages in your user space.
• Reverting actions performed by banned users in violation of a ban, and agents of banned or blocked users.
• Reverting obvious vandalism — edits that any well-intentioned user would agree constitutes vandalism, such as page blanking and adding offensive content or language.
• Removal of clear policy or copyright violations.
• Removal of other content that is clearly illegal under U.S. law.
• Removing contentious material that is libelous, biased, unsourced, or poorly formatted or sourced.

When reverting, please indicate clear reasons in the edit summary or talk pages. Leeway is also given to editors reverting to maintain the quality of pages/articles. If you are claiming an exemption, make sure there is a clearly visible edit summary, or separate section of the talk page explaining the proposed exemption. When in doubt, do not revert. Instead, open discussion on an article's talk/discussion page.

Adherence/Enforcement

Warnings — A warning is written on your Discussion/User Talk Page regarding the violation.

• Warnings are typically given for minor infractions, especially where it appears a person misunderstood or was unaware of certain policies.

Temporary Blocks/Bans — Accounts are temporarily blocked for anywhere from 1 hour and up, depending on the violation and history thereof.

• Repeated offenses — Blocked temporarily (longer period), or permanently, typically after receiving written warnings or post/change reversals.

Permanent Blocks/Bans — Permanent removal from the site.

• Obvious vandalism, inappropriate content (nudity/pornography/violence), spamming, or scamming results in an instant and permanent ban.

Note: These are up to the discretion and discussion between the staff, depending on the situation.

Reporting Violations, Questions, and Suggestions

• Items of a sensitive nature can go to a staff member directly, usually to Soukupmi.
